OCAT Receives Two Proclamations in Honor of Human Trafficking Prevention
The Oklahoma Coalition Against Human Trafficking received two important proclamations in January recognizing the ongoing fight against human trafficking.
The first, from the Tulsa County Board of Commissioners, dedicated January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
The commissioners’ proclamation reaffirmed their commitment to increasing awareness and education on human trafficking, making resources available to assist individuals and communities impacted by human trafficking, and building diverse public-private partnerships to support a more comprehensive response to preventing and responding to human trafficking.
Just days later, the Tulsa City Council and Mayor Monroe Nichols, presented the coalition with a proclamation designating January 11th as Human Trafficking Awareness Day in Tulsa.
“This sort government support is not only crucial in our efforts to combat human trafficking throughout Oklahoma, it also further strengthens our coalition,” said Karen Smith, OCAT director.
